
The United Arab Emirates announced on Sunday 2,600 new coronavirus cases and three deaths.
The health ministry said that as part of its intensified testing campaign, 2,600 new cases were detected, bringing the total number of recorded infections in the UAE to 767,093.
The ministry also announced three deaths due to COVID-19 complications, increasing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,168.
Daily infections in the UAE rose above 2,000 on Dec. 29, after having fallen below 100 in October.
The UAE said on Saturday it would ban non-vaccinated citizens from traveling abroad from Jan. 10 and that fully vaccinated citizens would also require a booster shot to be eligible to travel.
