Two new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the United Arab Emirates, bringing the total number of people diagnosed with the disease to seven, UAE's health ministry announced on Saturday.

The patients were identified through the continuous periodic screening being conducted in accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) for people with symptoms of the new coronavirus, the ministry said in a statement published by Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The two patients, who are from China and the Phillippines, are under observation, and necessary medical care is provided to them according to the highest health standards applicable in the country, WAM quoted the ministry as saying.

It added that all health facilities will continue to report any new suspected coronavirus cases.

It also said it works in coordination with all departments and concerned authorities in the country to take all precautionary and preventive measures and ensure the safety and security of UAE’s citizens and residents.

The viral outbreak that began in China has infected more than 34,800 people globally.
