What’s Going To Happen
It’s basically an elimination game in the Conference USA West race. Louisiana Tech beat Southern Miss a few weeks ago, UAB still has to play the Bulldogs but lost to WKU.
Neither team has played or beaten anyone special.
Against a mediocre schedule, USM has managed to come up with a big year for the downfield passing game with the league’s most efficient attack.
Against a miserable schedule, UAB has come up with a huge season against the pass. The Blazer defense has been terrific, the offensive line is giving everyone time to work, and it’s doing what it’s supposed to do against a slew of awful teams.
This week, it gets an Eagle team that’s its own size.
USM will do something most teams haven’t been able to do – move the ball on third downs against the Blazer D.
The deep Golden Eagle receiving corps will hit a few home runs, but it’ll be Jack Abraham’s midrange throws – and a great day from the USM run defense – that keeps the team alive in the chase.
