U20 All-Ireland football final set for double header with senior decider

The All-Ireland under-20 football final will form a double header with the senior final on December 19.

The Dublin-Galway decider was due to be played on Saturday, October 25 after the counties had won their respective semi-finals the previous weekend, with the competition having been suspended for seven months due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

But while the Government allowed senior inter-county games to continue despite imposing Level 5 restrictions in October, that didn’t apply to underage activity which meant that the under-20 final had to be placed on ice, along with the minor Championships that had just got underway.

But they can all now resume with the country having moved back to Level 3, which at least means that the under-20 Championship will be completed in the calendar year, though the minor grade will spill into 2021.

The under-20 final will throw-in at 2.30pm on Saturday, December 19 at Croke Park, with the senior final getting underway at 5pm.
