U2 superfan reduced to tears as she finally meets her idol Bono outside gig

A U2 superfan was left in tears after she got the chance to meet her idol, Bono.

Jo Cottez, from France, got emotional when she finally fulfilled her dream of meeting the Irish rock star ahead of one of their shows in New Zealand.

In a video posted on Facebook, a group of fans are shown patiently waiting outside Auckland's Mt Smart stadium as the band performed a sound check before the show.

Thankfully they were rewarded for their loyalty with an impromptu visit from the U2 frontman.

In the video Bono can be seen shaking everyone's hands and taking the time to chat to the fans before he comes to Jo.

He immediately begins to show off his French speaking skills upon hearing where Jo is from.

The 59-year-old can be seen shaking her hand before Ms Cottez is reduced to tears.

A visibly star struck Jo explains it's her dream to get his signature as she holds out her arm and hands the rockstar a marker.

Bono then replies "I don't know if I would do that to you, you deserve a better tattoo artist" before he draws his famous 'Bonogram' on her arm.

Sharing the video on Facebook, Cottez wrote: "Thank you Bono"

She added: "Believe in your dreams always"

"I prayed so much to live this moment".

The band recently embarked on their Australian and New Zealand leg of their Joshua Tree tour for a string of live dates in November and December.

The tour marks the first time in nine years since they played in New Zealand and Australia.

They are due to arrive in Australia where they will play a number of massive shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth.
