U2 bassist Adam Clayton labelled a 'pr**k' for comments in Phil Lynott documentary

U2 bassist Adam Clayton has gotten into hot water over comments he made in the 'Phill Lynott: Songs For While I'm Away' documentary.

The 61-year-old was speaking about Lynott’s work as a bassist and made a statement some viewers didn't like.

He referred to bass players as "the men of the band" and made a comment about "girly stuff".

He said: “One thing you need to know about the bass is it’s that big, heavy thing that hangs down between your legs.

“The bass is this secret weapon. It’s where the power comes from. It looks in a groove with the drum kit – the drums and the bass gives you that nice, kind of sexy wiggle of the hips.

"And then all the other kind of girly stuff sits on top, but we are the men of the band.”

English singer and musician Nadine Shah tweeted a video of the clip and called Clayton a "pr**k".

She said in the caption: "Adam Clayton is a fu**ing spenk. My “girly stuff” sh**s on what you do."
