U.S. NHC says 20 percent chance of cyclone southwest of the Azores

(Reuters) - An area of low pressure about 750 miles southwest of the Azores has 20 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Friday.

"Environmental conditions suggest the low will gradually acquire some tropical or subtropical characteristics, and a tropical or subtropical cyclone could form early next week," the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
