U.S. News names best grad schools for business, law, engineering

March 11--The University of Chicago, Northwestern and Illinois have some of the best graduate schools in the nation for business, law and engineering, according to a U.S. News and World Report list released Tuesday.

U. of C. ranked fourth among law schools, tying with Columbia. Yale's law school took the top spot, followed by Harvard and Stanford. U of C's medical school ranked tenth for research, tying with Michigan and Washington. U. of C.'s Booth business school ranked fourth.

Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management ranked sixth among business schools, sandwiched between MIT's Sloan School of Management and Haas School of Business at California-Berkeley. Stanford was ranked first among business schools, followed by Harvard and Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Northwestern's education school ranked seventh, tying with Columbia and Pennsylvania.

Illinois' engineering school was ranked sixth, tying with engineering schools at Georgia Tech, Purdue and Michigan. MIT's engineering school ranked first, followed by Stanford and California-Berkeley.
