U.S. continues freefall in FIFA soccer rankings, to No. 31

Feb. 12--The U.S. fell four more places in FIFA's February world rankings, dropping to No. 31 overall, the team's lowest spot in the monthly soccer ratings in nearly two years.

The Americans ranked 13th in the world entering last summer's World Cup. But after winning their first game in the tournament, they have won just twice in 10 games since.

There were no changes among the top seven teams with World Cup champion Germany again No. 1 followed by Argentina, the team it beat in the final in Brazil.

Costa Rica was the biggest mover among the new top 15, jumping three places to No. 13 overall. That left the Ticos as the only CONCACAF team in the top 20 after Mexico fell one spot to No. 21 overall.

Ivory Coast, which beat Ghana on penalty kicks in last weekend's African Cup of Nations, climbed eight spots to No. 20 while Ghana made the biggest move in the top 45, going from No. 37 in January to No. 25 now.
