U-25 Trophy: Yashasvi Jaiswal slams second hundred in as many days

MUMBAI: Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his second hundred in two days as Mumbai beat Maharashtra by five wickets, recording their second win on the trot in the BCCI's Men's Under-25 State A Trophy at the Just Cricket ground in Bangalore on Tuesday.

The opener's 119 came off just 89 balls, and included as many as six sixes and ten fours. The left-hander's106-run partnership for the fourth wicket with allrounder Sairaj Patil (62, 54b, 3x4, 4x6) in just 84 balls helped Mumbai chase down the 253-run target easily in a game curtailed to 36 overs-a-side due to rain.

By stroking two consecutive centuries - he had cracked 106 against Jharkhand on Monday - Jaiswal has brushed off his poor form post the IPL, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy behind him. The youngster will now be keyed up for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December. "He's a fabulous batsman. I wanted him to score runs again and am happy that he's back in form," Mumbai chief selector Salil Ankola told TOI.

On Monday, Mumbai, who're now topping Elite Group C with two wins in two games, had beaten Jharkhand by 65 runs in their opener.

Brief Scores: Maharashtra 252-8 in 36 overs (S Veer 76, P Shah 65, Yash Kshirsagar 30; Dhanit Raut 3-49) lost to Mumbai 253-5 in 35 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 119, Sairaj Patil 62) by five wickets
