Tyson Fury has waded in on the Formula 1 title rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, with the pair's fierce title rival set to come to a close this weekend.
Hamilton is level on points with the Red Bull ace following an incident-filled afternoon in Saudi Arabia last time out, where Verstappen was issued with penalties after the race for his on-track behaviour.
Immense criticism has since been directed towards the 24-year-old, who is seeking to win his first Formula 1 title and bring an end to Hamilton's years of dominance.
Fury has now compared the pair's battle to the historic rivalry between James Hunter and Nicki Lauda, which earned Hollywood acclaim with a film starring Chris Hemsworth.
However, his main focus was urging people to get off the back of Verstappen - adding that he knows what it feels like to receive a wealth of criticism from the media.
"Just been doing a bit of reading up about the F1 rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, how Max is being made out to be a bit of a bad boy in the media.
"I know what it feels like to be treated badly by the media. It's not nice, especially when you're young and your ambitious and you want to win.
"Give him a bit of a break, he's only trying his best. Good luck to both of them in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This rivalry reminds me a bit of James Hunter and Nicki Lauda, racing for the title. Who is going to win it? C'mon the boys!"
Hamilton and Verstappen's battle will be decided at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, where it all comes down to who finishes highest on the day.
Verstappen currently has the edge over Hamilton courtesy of race wins this season, so will win the title if both drivers fail to finish the race.
