Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy fight targeted for new 65,000-seater Las Vegas stadium

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder could clash for a third time at the brand-new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The sparkling 65,000-capacity venue has been built for the city's first American Football team but is also set up for boxing and MMA.

And Fury and Wilder could meet in front of a reduced 20,000 crowd on December 19 to settle their heavyweight rivalry.

Following Fury's seventh-round stoppage victory in the pair's second instalment in February, Wilder triggered the rematch clause in his contract.

The trilogy bout was set for July 18 before the coronavirus crisis ground sport to a halt across the world.

The rescheduled date of October 3 was also dumped and the fight is now pencilled in for six days before Christmas.

Australia, New Zealand and Macau had all been in the running to play host but Las Vegas looks to have trumped its rival venues.

Asked about the date and venue, Fury's promoter Bob Arum said: "That is the date that we all want.

"That’s the date that both sides are happy with. Whether we’ll be able to do it in the stadium with limited seating, that’s in the hands of the gods.

"Whenever they fight, I think it’s going to be a huge type of attraction, and to do it as the first fight at Allegiant Stadium would be something really special.

"By December 19, people will say, ‘Yeah, maybe by then, the worst is over and they can do it'.

"If I start saying September, I open up a can of worms. … If we have to do [Vasyl Lomachenko vs Teofimo Lopez] in the bubble, then we’ll do it in the bubble.

"If we can get spectators, maybe at the MGM or at Allegaint or whatever, we’ll keep everybody in the bubble and get spectators.

"But I’m not asking for that now and I don’t know if that’ll be possible."
