Tyson Fury’s rematch with Deontay Wilder could be pushed back as a result of the injuries ‘The Gypsy King’ suffered against Otto Wallin, promoter Frank Warren has warned.
Fury suffered a nasty cut above his right eye in the third round of his unanimous win over Wallin.
The Manchester fighter was able to box through the remaining nine rounds and pick up a win, calling out Wilder once again in his post-fight interview.
Contracts have been signed for the two to meet again on 22 February – but it remains to be seen whether Fury will be able to compete by then.
"If it doesn't heal well the fight may have to be pushed back," Warren told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"Hopefully that will not be the case. It depends how it heals, if it's OK it won't be a problem."
He added: "It's not just the fight, it's the training and sparring. He has to be 100% right."
Fury was taken to hospital after the win with his father John, on punditry duty back in the UK with BT Sport Box Office, insisting the cut could cost his son his career.
“An injury like that could finish his career, he might need surgery on that. I am worried about that cut,” Fury Snr said.
