Tyson Fury’s third fight against Deontay Wilder is set to take place outside both the US and the UK because of the ban on crowds.
Las Vegas was provisionally lined up to host the two heavyweights on December 19 but Frank Warren said it would not go ahead without spectators.
The UK had been mooted as a possible location for the fight but that was effectively ruled out by the Government’s U-turn yesterday in allowing fans back into sports events from the start of next month.
Talks have been held with Nevada officials about letting fans back in there but with no success to date. And Warren insisted that “a fight of that magnitude” could not take place behind closed doors.
He told ITV: “Wilder and Fury was the highest grossing fight to ever take place in Las Vegas. We just can’t lose the gate. It’s a huge amount of money. We need the gate or we come up with a scenario where there is a huge site fee from a territory to take it.”
