Tyson Fury vows to give entire Deontay Wilder fight purse to the homeless

Tyson Fury says he plans to give his entire fight purse for his showdown with Deontay Wilder to the poor.

‘The Gipsy King’ challenges for Wilder’s WBC heavyweight crown in what is just his third fight back after a 32-month layoff this Saturday.

Fury returns to the world title picture after ending Wladimir Klitshko’s nine-year reign at the summit of heavyweight boxing in 2015 but has been faced with accusations his return has been motivated by money.

The Manchester fighter claims he has used that perception to “trick” Wilder into accepting the fight while also insisting a reported £8m fight purse is the last thing on his mind.

“They think I’ve just come here to pick up a few quid,” Fury told talkSPORT. “But I couldn’t care less about the money. I don’t have much use for it.

“I’m planning to give it all away to the poor and for building houses for the homeless. I will probably wind up like all the other boxers down the years. Skint.”

Fury has no plans to treat his children with his earnings in boxing, however.

I don’t believe in leaving money to kids. It’s bad for them.

“You see how all those spoiled rich kids who’ve inherited are in a mess. Kids need to earn their own money. Like I did.

“I’ve worked hard for every penny. Starting since I was eight washing cars. Then as the brusher upper, the idiot doing all the things you didn’t want to do yourself.”
