Tyson Fury teases WWE return as he promises "big news" about future

Tyson Fury has taken to social media to tease that he could be returning to WWE in the near future.

The 33-year-old made his wrestling debut in October 2019, defeating American Braun Strowman in the Crown Jewel event, before crowning himself 'the Saudi Arabian King'.

Fury also formed a tag team partnership with Strowman at an event later that year but has not stepped foot in the ring since.

He reportedly earned £12million from his first bout, four months before fighting Deontay Wilder for the second time to become the WBC heavyweight champion of the world.

But the Brit could be set to put boxing on the back burner once again after an Instagram video on Friday.

"In the gym, guys; smashing it, absolutely smashing it," Fury said before turning his camera to show his outfit from 2019.

"He's coming, the Saudi Arabian King is coming back.

"Get up there, my boy. Some big news coming. Hold tight!"

Fury has not hidden his desire to return to WWE and his wife, Paris, revealed how keen he is return to the wrestling ring in October 2021.

"He is in touch with [promoter] Vince McMahon all the time. He loves it," she said whilst on BBC Newcastle.

"My sons are all big fans of it. For Tyson to do it is kind of like a Disneyland trip, the kids love to go and they meet all the wrestlers.

"To be that cool dad that can give them kids that dream, he does it. I think that's one of the reasons we've come to do this, and obviously being a young man he told me he was a fan of all these wrestlers.

"So he's definitely probably going to go into that again. I'm sure he will bounce into that WWE ring one of the days."

Fury made headlines in the WWE world when he received a message of good luck from legendary wrestler The Undertaker before his third and final fight with Wilder.

In a response, Fury recited the star's famous catchphrase.

"This one is for The Undertaker. I'm here today in your hat, sir," he said. "I'm gonna smash him and I'm gonna say, rest in peace."

Fury also told Behind the Gloves last March that he was supposed to make his WWE return in a UK pay-per-view event in 2020 but the show was cancelled due to the global pandemic.

"I was supposed to go to SummerSlam last year and I was supposed to go to WrestleMania last year and then I was also supposed to fight Drew McIntyre in a PPV event in the UK, but none of that happened thanks to Covid," he revealed.

"So Covid's cost me SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, PPV with Drew McIntyre, the Wilder rematch, and the [Anthony] Joshua fight. So thank you, Covid."

As far as boxing goes, Fury is set to defend his belt against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte next after he was ordered to by the WBC.

The current champ is set to receive a whopping 80% of the fight purse should the two camps not agree on a deal of their own.
