Tyson Fury was spotted sizing up Oleksandr Usyk at ringside in Philadelphia.
Usyk has suddenly emerged in the heavyweight title picture after moving up a weight class and looking encouraging on his long-awaited debut against Chaz Witherspoon last week.
He has been tipped to challenge the likes of lineal champion Fury, WBC king Deontay Wilder or the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr rematch next year.
And Fury is clearly keen to check out the tools of a potential future opponent, as he literally sizing up the Ukrainian.
Fury was ringside for Artur Beterbiev's light heavyweight title win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Philadelphia on Saturday night.
Usyk and Vasily Lomachenko were also present to watch compatriot Gvozdyk - and Fury made sure to pay the former cruiserweight king a visit.
He was caught on camera shaking Usyk's hand and asking him to stand up, examining his height before feeling his shoulders and abs to see what shape he is in.
It has sparked speculation Fury could be looking at a huge clash with Usyk in 2020, provided he gets through his rematch with Deontay Wilder with a win.
All roads have led to Wilder since Fury signed a big-money deal with ESPN and Top Rank, beating Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin to keep him ticking over until Wilder's rematch with Luis Ortiz is done.
But he could now be looking at what lies ahead beyond Wilder, with domestic rival Joshua's path sent on a different trajectory by his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr.
Superstar Usyk brings a new dimension to the division, with a technical skillset to potential rival Fury's but a significant size disadvantage.
For the time being, Fury's focus is away from boxing, with a remarkable appearance at WWE's Crown Jewel pay-per-view to take on Braun Strowman coming up on October 31 in Saudi Arabia.
