UFC commentator, podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan stated that the outcome of Tyson Fury's victory over Deontay Wilder was affected by "an error or corruption".
Fury defeated Wilder for the second time in their trilogy fight, winning by an emphatic knockout in the 11th round.
Rogan described the bout as one of the most exciting boxing matches of all-time, in which Wilder looked like he had Fury beaten twice with two huge shots and putting him down in the fourth.
Fury would get back up and dominate the next six rounds before catching Wilder with a overhand right - keeping the American down.
However, the fight was not without controversy once again, as number of fans, along with former UFC champion Daniel Cormier pointed out.
Cormier stated that Fury benefited from a “crazy slow” count when he was dropped in the fourth by Wilder, criticising referee Russell Mora.
Cormier posted on Twitter: “The count was crazy slow. (The referee) isn't supposed to stop counting to tell Deontay to go to his corner.”
Speaking on his podcast, Rogan agreed.
"This is what happened. The referee is supposed to go ‘One two…’ when the guy goes down," he said on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. "But if for any reason he has to interrupt the count… you’re supposed to pick up the count where the ringside counter has it.
"So there’s a guy who’s counting ringside, and he’ll keep the count going. So if you’re at ‘One, two,’ and then you’re like ‘Go to a neutral corner,’ that guy is supposed to be like ‘three, four, five,’ but he didn’t.
"He went back to it, ‘three, four,’ but the guy had already been down for a couple seconds. Without a doubt it was a long count. I think it’s an error, or corruption. Most likely an error, most likely the guy’s panicking."
Rogan has had both Fury and Wilder on his podcast on previous occasions and has called Fury 'one of the best heavyweights of all-time'.
