Tyson Fury shares news daughter Athena is out of intensive care and "on the mend"

Boxing titan Tyson Fury has given fans positive news surrounding the health of his newborn baby daughter Athena as he has revealed she is out of intensive care and "on the mend".

The 33-year-old heavyweight champion issued the update via Instagram stories as he uploaded a touching video of himself feeding his newborn while explaining that she "should be going home soon".

Fury's wife Paris gave birth to Athena on Sunday August 8, before serious health complications impacted the baby, at one point needing a ventilator to help with her breathing, but neither Tyson nor Paris have revealed what the cause of her illness was.

Thankfully, the most recent update appeared to confirm she was on the road to recovery in what is fantastic news for everyone associated with the Fury's.

Speaking to the camera as he fed Athena a bottle, Fury said: "Just feeding my little girl, off the ICU, on the mend. Should be going home soon!

"Thank you to God, thank you to all the doctors and nurses who've helped her."

The video was accompanied with a wonderful picture of Athena staring down the lens of the camera, snuggled up in the arms of her parents.

Fury also uploaded a short video of him alongside his dad John, where he explained how he hoped Athena would be out of hospital by Wednesday, freeing him up to train for his upcoming fight against Deontay Wilder.

The heavyweight explained: "Four mile run there with my dad in the park here in Liverpool.

"Hope to God that the baby gets out of the hospital on Wednesday and I can start training for the big dosser Deontay Wilder which gives me about seven and a half weeks, which is plenty of time for a mug like that."

Athena's status has improved significantly, as revealed by Fury's father John, who explained to BT Sport: "It's been a bit of a white knuckle ride, we've had a lot to deal with.

"But we've come out on the other side due to professionalism of Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, they're the best children's hospital in the country if not the world.

"They've been really magnificent, they've really saved her life because she was dead for three minutes and they brought her back, it's onwards and upwards from today."
