Tyson Fury says newborn baby girl is in intensive care as he thanks fans for support

Boxing champion Tyson Fury has revealed his newborn baby daughter is in intensive care - and has thanked fans for all of their messages of support.

He said he and wife Paris are hopeful that baby girl Athena will be able to come out of the intensive care unit (ICU) at some point today, but asked all of his fans to "keep her in their prayers".

Tyson announced the arrival of his sixth child with Paris on Sunday with an emotional Instagram post asking everyone to keep their daughter in their prayers.

On Monday morning he issued an update from hospital to fans.

In the post on his Instagram stories he said: "Massive thanks for all the messages of support.

"The baby is in a stable position and doing well hopefully she comes out ICU today."

He added that Paris was doing well after the birth.

He said: "Please keep baby Athena in your prayers. Paris is doing great. God bless."

The couple have been married since 2009 and are doting parents to daughters Venezuela, 11, and three-year-old Valencia Amber and sons Prince John James, eight, Prince Tyson II, four and Prince Adonis, one.

They announced that Paris, 31, was pregnant in February.

In a chat with sports broadcaster Gareth A Davies, Tyson said: "Paris is pregnant again and the Lord has blessed us definitely with another child and I'm very thankful."

Paris, 31, took to Instagram to share the news of the unborn baby's gender in a sweet snap of the family during a gender reveal party.

Last month Tyson’s scheduled fight against Deontay Wilder was postponed after the boxer tested positive for Covid.

It is now due to take place in October.
