Tyson Fury's daughter was dead for three minutes before miracle workers saved her life

Tyson Fury's daughter Athena was dead for three minutes just days after being born, and was revived by miracle workers in a Liverpool children's hospital.

Fury and wife Paris welcomed their sixth child on Sunday, but she was put on ventilators early, and her grandfather John has said that the situation was dire before intervention from doctors.

She is currently back off the ventilator and reportedly feeling better, but the family feared they had lost her in the early hours of her life at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

"It's been a bit of a white knuckle ride, we've had a lot to deal with," Fury's father John told BT Sport.

"But we've come out on the other side due to professionalism of Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, they're the best children's hospital in the country if not the world.

"They've been really magnificent, they've really saved her life because she was dead for three minutes and they brought her back, it's onwards and upwards from today."

Fury is currently preparing for a world heavyweight title fight with Deontay Wilder, but his daughter took priority in recent days.

"All the respect in the world to Alder Hey, without those kind of people we can't function, we've been there a few days now and you see first hand the stress and pain of people, it's another world.

"We come back and we moan about our day at work being bad but once you've had a few hours there you realise what life is about.

"And I've learned one thing about people, particularly children, it's resilience."

The Fury family launched a fundraiser for the hospital while Athena was struggling, and have raised around £35,000 so far.
