Tyson Fury's comments about Jake Paul come back to haunt him as Tommy Fury pulls out of fight

Tommy Fury's mega-money bout with Jake Paul is off, with the withdrawal of the Manchester fighter occurring just 12 days before the event in Tampa, Florida.

Both fighters have been gearing up for the clash for months, which had been on the cards ever since Fury was named on the undercard of Paul's bout with Tyron Woodley in Cleveland.

Following Fury's triumph against Anthony Taylor on that night and Paul 's victory over Woodley, the pair went head-to-head - sowing the seeds for their own bout that would be confirmed months later.

However, less than two weeks before the fight date, Fury has withdrawn from the bout due to a bacterial chest infection and a broken rib.

Paul will instead face a rematch against Woodley and wasted no time in calling out Fury, declaring the former Love Island star was simply 'scared'.

Fury's camp will certainly make it clear that is far from the reason but comments from Tyson Fury just days ago have come back to haunt the Gypsy King.

When making it clear that his half-brother would encounter no problems against Paul, Tyson Fury said he'd be able to win with broken ribs and flu - eerily similar to the two issues that have forced Tommy to step aside.

"Tommy could have his worst night ever and still beat Jake Paul. He could probably turn up with broken ribs, a broken left hand, two left feet, his clothes on back to front and a flue and he would still beat him. That is how confident I am that he can beat Jake Paul."

Fury has made it clear he is keen on facing Paul in the New Year and is keen for the bout to be rearranged, though it remains to be seen whether the American will accept that proposal.

One thing that is for sure is that there will still be plenty for both to say on the matter over the course of the coming weeks and months.
