Tyson Fury's camp still hopeful Deontay Wilder trilogy fight will take place in Las Vegas this year

Tyson Fury’s camp remain hopeful the trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder will happen before the end of the year.

‘The Gypsy King’ is contracted to a third meeting with Wilder after his stunning seventh round victory over the previously undefeated American last February which saw him take the WBC title.

The coronavirus pandemic has seen the bout pushed back throughout the year with Fury’s promoters Frank Warren and Bob Arum adamant their bout cannot happen behind closed doors.

But according to Fury’s cutman and trusted confidant Jorge Capetillo, Las Vegas remains the preferred destination with work being done behind the scenes to ensure it happens in 2020.

"I think they're working on a December date but they need people, they sold a lot of tickets last time, 18 million dollars of tickets at the MGM," Capetillo told MyBettingSites.co.uk.

"The teams are negotiating with ESPN and hopefully they'll get a deal for December.

"From what I heard, it's going to be here in Vegas, so they may postpone it to early next year. They are working on the fight for December, but if not, they'll postpone it to early next year."

Fury and reigning IBF, WBO and WBA (Super) heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua have agreed financial terms for two meetings in 2021 to unify the division.

Assessing the challenge the Olympian poses against Fury, Capetillo insists his man possesses the greater fight IQ and doubts Joshua has the skills to trouble the WBC champion.

"Anthony is a fighter that you have to be in front of for him to land, I don't see too much creativity; feinting, using the jab more, head movement, knowing how to use the range and distance, using the ring.

"Their IQ is different; their whole IQ is different. Anthony is a strong man that will come after you like he did with Andy [Ruiz Jr] but with Tyson it will be a different fight. Tyson is the best fighter of this era and the heavyweight division and he proved it."
