Tyson Fury reveals he stopped drinking an absurd amount of Diet Coke for Wilder fight

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will meet in the ring on Saturday night in Las Vegas for their highly anticipated rematch following their thrilling draw in 2018, and Fury believes his sacrifices in the buildup to the main event will give him an edge over The Bronze Bomber. In an interview with ESPN’s Max Kellerman, Fury explained that he’s prepared for the fight by depriving himself of all the things that he likes – from seeing his family members, to his daily diet.

Fury has spent the last two months in Las Vegas away from his wife and kids, and during that time, he hasn’t allowed himself to enjoy a drop of Diet Coke – which he had been consuming at an alarming rate beforehand.

“It’s just something, a little sacrifice more. I love me Diet Cokes. And I was having, I don’t know, 20, 30 in a day sometimes…. It is a little ridiculous, but you know, whatever. So I cut them out. I took them away from myself. I took everything that I held dear, everything that I like, I took it out of my life.

I’ve been away in Las Vegas for 10 weeks by the time the fight comes around. I’ve not had my wife here, my kids, I’ve not had no drinks, I’ve not had nothing. I’ve not put a single object in my mouth that shouldn’t have been there. The only thing I put in is what the nutritionist wrote on a piece of paper.”

20 to 30 Diet Cokes a day! Assuming Fury is downing regulation 12-ounce cans, that means that on a heavy Diet Coke day, he was drinking nearly three gallons of soda.
