Tyson Fury restrained by security after jumping the barricade at WWE Smackdown

Tyson Fury was held back by security after jumping the barricade at the WWE Smackdown event.

The Wythenshawe boxer was restrained by more than eight security guards in an angry skirmish at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, prompting talk that he could be planning a move to WWE wrestling.

Fury, also known as the 'Gypsy King', appeared to try and get in the ring with American wrestler Braun Strowman.

The drama began when Strowman pretended to square up to the former world heavyweight champion, who was sitting in the front row.

Then it turned nasty when Strowman threw his opponent Dolph Ziggler into Fury, knocking him off his seat.

The boxer jumped the barricade, shouting and pointing at Strowman who laughed from the safety of the ring as the scenes unfolded.

After the showdown Fury retweeted a fan who shared a video clip of the moment and said: "Tyson Fury was meant for the WWE."

"Bringing the 2 sports ever closer together..." said another.

And another fan tweeted: "Fury would be PERFECT for @WWE! Make it happen."

Fury, 31, is currently awaiting a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

He was last in the ring on September 14 when he won on points in a dramatic bout in Las Vegas with Otto Wallin.

Fury ended up in hospital instead of celebrating on the famous Vegas Strip after a bloody 12-round battle.

He was taken to the University Medical Center of South Nevada with two cuts above his right eye, a deep gash on the eyebrow and another on the eyelid.
