Tyson Fury responds to Floyd Mayweather's offer to train Deontay Wilder for trilogy fight

Tyson Fury has responded to Floyd Mayweather after the American offered to train his compatriot Deontay Wilder ahead of Fury vs Wilder part III.

Mayweather, who has recently announced plans to become “one of the best trainers in the world”, was speaking at a Q&A session on his UK tour when he offered to help Wilder prepare for the third and final fight in the trilogy.

“If I train [Wilder] I can teach him how to win,” Mayweather said.

Accompanied by an image showing Mayweather’s quote, Fury tweeted: “No matter what you teach him, I will smash him.”

The third fight is scheduled for 19 December, though it may yet be pushed back once more, having originally been slated for July before the pandemic struck. The first fight was judged a draw but Fury dominated the second, taking Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title.
