Tyson Fury responds to Anthony Joshua's offer to make him a "superstar"

Tyson Fury has informed Anthony Joshua that he is "only interested in smashing your face in" after AJ offered to make him a "superstar".

Unified world heavyweight champion Joshua aimed a jibe at Fury suggesting the Gypsy King could "go all the way" if he joined his promoter, Eddie Hearn.

“I do think he should come over to Matchroom and 258 Management and let us handle his career," said Joshua, 31.

“He’s a superstar in the making with the right management. He could go all the way. I see a lot of potential in Tyson, with the right management he could go far, so when he’s ready he can come over and we can get this fight underway."

In response, WBC champion Fury insisted he has no interest in being a superstar in Joshua's eyes and is solely focussed on beating his fellow Brit.

Fury, 32, wrote on Twitter : "Has it ever dawned on you I’m not interested in being a superstar, or famous. I’m a fighting man and only interested in smashing your face in, you keep the stardom. I’ll stay real, #youbigdosser I’m coming for you superstar, tick tock tick tock."

Fury and Joshua are set to clash in a unification bout next year, though a final terms are yet to be agreed between Hearn and Fury's promoter, Frank Warren.

In the meantime, Joshua will face Bulgarian contender Kubrat Pulev on Saturday with his WBO, WBA and IBF belts on the line.

AJ's playful remarks at Fury came after the Gypsy King asked the BBC to remove him from its six-person Sports Personality of the Year Award shortlist.

Explaining his request, Fury said: "Please take me off your list, I am the people's champion and have no need for verification or any awards."

But Joshua claims his rival was misguided to snub the award and he would be wise to let Matchroom and 258 Management handle his public relations.

“Build it up, award him Sports Personality of the Year," Joshua added. “That video he did should be him saying, ‘I’m accepting my award’, not that, ‘I don’t want to be a part of it’.

“We’ll have a look at his PR, we’ll strip it all back and make this fight what it’s supposed to be."
