Tyson Fury provides injury update and sets training camp start date for Deontay Wilder rematch

Tyson Fury says he will be starting training camp for his rematch with Deontay Wilder on January 10.

The Gypsy King is due to face the WBC champion for a second time on February 22.

Wilder will face his rematch with Luiz Ortiz on November 23, whilst Fury has been taking some time out of the ring since suffering a nasty cut in his points win over Otto Wallin in September.

After requiring over 40 stitches on the wound and receiving a two-month medical suspension, Fury has confirmed he should be fully healed to resume boxing on December 15.

But he will have a quiet Christmas period with his family before giving himself a relatively short six-week camp to prepare for his huge Wilder rematch.

"I'm nowhere near camp," Fury told BT Sport .

"I won't think about camp until 10th January. That's the official start, 10th January, we're off."

Fury threw out an obscure suggestion when asked where his next camp will take place, although his prediction of a trip to the Caribbean appeared tongue in cheek.

"I think we're going to Barbados, I'm not sure," he joked.

"Wherever my Dad wants to take us, that's where we're going."

Fury, who appeared in WWE at their Crown Jewel pay-per-view last month, was accused of running from the rematch by Wilder.

But the Brit fired back in a video directed at his rival, whom he drew with in controversial fashion in Los Angeles last December.

"This is a message to address Deontay Wilder's recent comments on how I don't want to fight him," Fury said.

"Oh, how afraid of him I am.

"If I was afraid of you, I wouldn't have fought you after having three years out of the ring and beaten you in your own country, but you had to rob me and give me a draw.

"I don't know why on Earth you think I'm bothered about you. Just get through your fight with (Luis) Ortiz (on November 23), do your own thing and stop using my name for relevance.

"You should be on 20 per cent (for our rematch), but you're not and I'm giving you a fair share because I'm a fair man.

"I don't ask for anything in this world, I work hard for everything.

"The thing is with you Wilder, crack on with your own business and I'll see you February 22 to finish what I started. This time you're going to get smashed you big bum dosser."
