Tyson Fury promoter Bob Arum eager to stage Anthony Joshua fight before end of year

Tyson Fury‘s co-promoter Bob Arum is keen to ensure an all-British heavyweight title fight between his boxer and Anthony Joshua takes place before the end of the year.

Joshua defends his IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO titles against Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev on 20 June at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with WBC champion Fury set for a trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder this summer – likely at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand on 18 July.

“Nothing is set in stone but that’s certainly the date we’re talking about,” Arum told Fox Sports. “We have to meet with the Wilder camp and everybody else and zero in on it, but right now that’s the date we’re looking at.

“A lot of people say a third fight won’t do as well and a lot of people say it will be bigger. Who really knows?

“What we’re trying to do is – by the end of the year – in some manner, shape or form have a unified heavyweight champion.

“One champion for the entire division. It would certainly help the image of boxing.”

While Arum, like Fury’s other co-promoter Frank Warren, would prefer a clash against Joshua, he also promotes Pulev, so would likely be able to organise Fury versus Pulev with relative ease.
