Tyson Fury next fight to be confirmed by WBC today as Dillian Whyte awaits verdict

Tyson Fury's next fight is expected to be confirmed today by the WBC, with Dillian Whyte widely expected to secure his title shot.

Whyte was due to face Otto Wallin on October 30th but withdrew from the bout due to a shoulder injury and holds no desire to reschedule that fight.

Instead, Whyte is keen to finally earn his shot at the heavyweight title with an all-British clash against Fury - something he's waited over four years for.

Fury was given a limited window following his victory over Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas to secure a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk, which was never likely.

Anthony Joshua has activated his rematch clause against the Ukrainian, as he seeks to win back the belts he lost in north London, making a unification bout for Fury extremely unlikely.

The WBC will hold its annual convention on Tuesday, where they are set to announce Fury's commitments as defending champion - with Whyte sitting in pole position to secure the bout.

However, Whyte will be wary of being in a similar position previously but never seeing a bout against the champion materialise.

In 2017, Whyte lined-up a fight with then champion Deontay Wilder following a points victory over Robert Helenius but never saw his fight with the American materialise.

Instead, Wilder fought Bermane Stiverne and Dominic Breazeale, both of whom were knocked out inside the opening round, before the trilogy with Fury.

Fury's bouts with Wilder came in contentious fashion, as he was named as mandatory challenger while Whyte waited to be cleared by UK anti-doping following a WBC suspension.
