In what would be a sensational UK homecoming, Tyson Fury's co-promoter Bob Abrum has named fellow Brits Dillain Whyte and Joe Joyce as potential challengers for the Gypsy King's next fight.
The news comes after Fury defeated Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas, Nevada, earlier this month to defend his WBC heavyweight title.
Fury hasn't fought in the UK since 2018 during his comeback run, making a home turf bout between two British fighters a mouth-watering prospect for the nation's boxing fans, as the Daily Star reports.
Whyte was set to fight Otto Wallin at the O2 arena, London, next weekend. But, after the Brixton fighter pulled out due to a shoulder injury there are no guarantees over who Fury's challenger will be.
The fight would have decided the WBC mandatory challenger and so it remains to be seen whether Whyte will have to honour his engagement with Wallin first before a potential bout with Fury in March.
Speaking to Blood Sports TV, Arum said: “Dillian Whyte is not the mandatory, and that’s what the WBC hasn’t done.
“Dillian Whyte has an obligation to fight Wallin, and we’ll see.
“But again, in March, I’d like Tyson Fury to fight in the UK, and I would think among the opponents would be Dillian Whyte or maybe this big English guy, Joe Joyce."
Joe Joyce meanwhile has been on a hot run of form beating Daniel Dubois and Carlos Takam. Dubois was undefeated, and so Joyce's victory is announcement of his capability to enter the ring with fury.
Joyce and Fury also share a promoter in Frank Warren, potentially paving the way for an easier deal to be struck. Warren has reportedly said that Fury regards the 'Juggernaut' Joyce as a future champion and so may be keen to get him in the ring.
Meanwhile Whyte is signed with Arum and Warrens' rival Eddie Hearn, which may complicate proceedings.
Excitement around a Fury Vs Anthony Joshua match up has been put on ice after AJ was beaten on a unanimous decision by Oleksandr Usyk, but this isn't the end of the line for an all-British match-up, with the potential of one of Whyte or Joyce a very real possibility.
It is expected Joshua and Ursyk will meet again in the spring.
Elsewhere Tyson Fury's brother, Tommy Fury, is set to fight YouTuber Jake Paul in Miami on December 18.
