Tyson Fury camp give update on Dillian Whyte fight date after Principality Stadium claim

Tyson Fury's camp have confirmed that talks are underway to finalise a date for the Dillian Whyte fight.

The Gypsy King will return to the ring in 2022 after the World Boxing Council officially ordered him to face mandatory challenger Whyte.

The two camps have now entered into a free negotiations period, giving them 30 days to agree a deal.

Now Fury's promoter, Bob Arum, has spoken on the potential fight and has confirmed that talks are underway.

Arum, who promotes Fury in the US, told Sky Sports: "Why wouldn't Fury respect Whyte? Heavyweights throw bombs. If he doesn't respect him, he'll be in a lot of trouble.

"Fury is enough of a professional, and a great fighter, and he knows that you don't take a guy like Whyte lightly."

Arum added: "Frank Warren talked to Tyson who wants to get in the ring in February or March. We are talking to Whyte now to come to an arrangement to put the fight on in the UK.

"It will be a splendid fight and we are working hard to put it together."

The Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales is considered to be the most likely venue to host the fight due to its retractable roof amid expected cool temperatures.

Fury - a Manchester United fan - has previously outlined his desire to stage an event at Old Trafford but Warren said earlier this week: “Whyte is a huge stadium event and it's too cold that early in the New Year to go to Old Trafford.”
