Tyson Fury begins social media blackout to start Deontay Wilder training camp

Tyson Fury's preparations for a fiercely-anticipated trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder are ramping up a notch, with the British fighter beginning a social media blackout.

The Gypsy King had been using social media channels to provide updates to fans following the complications after the birth of his daughter, Athena.

The newborn was rushed into ICU shortly after birth and the family were informed she had been lost for three minutes before resuscitation.

While that raised questions as to whether the fight would go ahead or be delayed, Fury assured fans the planned clash with Wilder would be sticking to schedule.

Now, in his latest update to supporters, Fury said his goodbyes as he begins a seven-week countdown to the third fight with Wilder in Las Vegas.

"Right guys I’m going off line until October 10, someone else will be keeping you updated. Total blackout from me. see you in Vegas. Let the games begin. 7 weeks Saturday till I smash the big dosser again. God bless," he said in his last post.

This is normal behaviour for the Mancunian fighter during his preparations for big fights and is something he did to prepare for the original fight date of July 24th.

That date was pushed back following a COVID-19 outbreak in Fury's camp, with the fight now taking place on Saturday, October 9th.

Fury is expected to face Anthony Joshua in a future bout after the trilogy fight with Wilder, with a planned clash earlier this year cancelled.

That came after an American court ruled Wilder can exercise his rematch clause in the agreement from the second fight, which was won by Fury.
