Tyson Fury backed for 'gigantic' pay-per-view WWE return vs Drew McIntyre

WWE superstar Drew McIntyre has reiterated his desire to face-off against Tyson Fury in a 'Battle of Britain' clash if the Manchester fighter makes a return to WWE.

The Gypsy King made a single appearance in a WWE pay-per-view event in 2019 against Braun Strowman, securing victory at the Crown Jewel.

Speculation sorrowing another appearance for Fury in WWE has been rising ever since and McIntyre has regularly spoken about his desire to face-off against the boxing heavyweight.

Fury's wife Paris recently revealed her husband will 'definitely' wrestle in WWE again and keeps in regular contact with the promotion's chief executive Vince McMahon.

Ahead of the WWE tour event in Manchester, McIntyre spoke to MEN Sport and reiterated his desire to face Fury - with the Scot believing a pay-per-view event in the UK would be the perfect environment.

"I don't know if it will be happen but I keep saying I'm more than happy to do him. If we can get that kind of significant event, we're going to need the sort of match that's going to draw eyeballs in, lapsed fans and perhaps new fans," he said.

"Personally, I can't think of something much bigger than a Battle of Britain with Fury, with a gigantic name that he has outside in his world and myself, the first ever British champion, coming together with my experience in the ring, I know I could bring an entertaining match with him and he gets the entertainment aspect. We really could have a fun build to that. At the same time, if we're on the same team, we'd smash anyone else.

"We've talked very publicly about it, we've had some back and forth. He showed up to one of the shows, I can't remember which pay-per-view it was, it was just after Wrestlemania. I got in the corner and glanced into the crowd, he was right there and he ducked me the whole show, he literally went out of his way to avoid me. Quite frankly, I know Fury is terrified of McIntyre."

Fury's wife Paris said: "He (Tyson) is in touch with Vince McMahon all the time. He loves it. My sons are all big fans of it. For Tyson to do it is kind of like a Disneyland trip, the kids love to go and they meet all the wrestlers.

"To be that cool dad that can give them kids that dream, he does it. I think that's one of the reasons we've come to do this, and obviously being a young man he told me he was a fan of all these wrestlers.

"So he's definitely probably going to go into that again. I'm sure he will bounce into that WWE ring one of the days."
