Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua blasted for having 'no skill' by heavyweight legend

Legendary heavyweight boxer Larry Holmes has criticised Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, stating that they have 'no skill'.

Holmes, who once defeated Muhammed Ali while fighting against prime Mike Tyson, had a historic career in heavyweight boxing - winning 69 of his 75 fights.

Now 72 years old, Holmes has spoken on the current heavyweights in the sport, giving his verdict on the two British heavyweight stars Fury and Joshua, as well as Deontay Wilder.

When asked about what he thought about them, Holmes stated that he has not been impressed with any heavyweight boxer for a long time.

Speaking to Fight Hub, he said: "They don’t have no skills. They throw punches like this [from their waist] for a jab, you don’t throw a punch like that, you throw straight.

"You can’t hit me with that right hand because this hand’s here to protect me. They don’t know how to throw a one-two, and move out to protect yourself."

The interviewer then countered by stating how well Tyson Fury gets around the ring, arguing that no heavyweight has been able to move like the Gypsy King at his size.

Holmes responded stating: "He’s gotta move like Larry Holmes, that’s what he’s gotta move like.

"You’ve got to give punches, you shouldn’t take punches. And that’s what he does, he takes punches.

"I guess that’s what he wanted to do, prove to people that he can take a punch. The game of boxing is hit and don’t get hit."

He added: "The fighters today are not the fighters that I fought. We fought the top ten, we didn’t duck nobody.

“Earnie Shavers, Gerry Cooney, Kenny Norton, all those strong guys. Today these guys don’t want to fight. If you want to make some money, you’ve gotta bring it to them, you’ve gotta make these guys fight.”
