Tyson Fury admits he is 'not confident' Anthony Joshua fight will go ahead

Tyson Fury has admitted he has doubts over whether his much-anticipated unification fight against former British heavyweight Anthony Joshua will go ahead.

The two recently agreed terms on a two-fight deal, but they both have a number of hurdles to overcome first, with Fury obliged to take on Deontay Wilder for a third time and Joshua needing to face IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev as well as WBO mandatory Oleksandr Usyk.

A defeat for either of them could put a fight between each other in jeopardy, and speaking to ILF TV Fury urged fans to not get too excited just yet.

"I have never been convinced, never ever have I been convinced, that I will fight Anthony Joshua," Fury said.

"How can I be convinced? If he’s got to fight Pulev and if he’s got to fight Usyk, how can I be convinced he’s going to get through those fights without losing?

"How can I be even confident I’m going to smash Wilder? Wilder can be absolutely blitz me in one round, good night Vienna. That would put a hell of a wedgie in the door. This is why I hate talking about fights that don’t exist yet.

"Can I honestly say 100 per cent this fight is going to happen? I can’t. But providing we both get through our next two fights, then I know it’s going to happen."

Meanwhile, Fury's promoter Bob Arum has confirmed The Gypsy King will no longer work with advisor Daniel Kinahan, who helped arranged the fight against Joshua

"Over the weekend I’ve had a lot of conversations with Tyson Fury and what we both decided is that myself, Top Rank and Fury will do all negotiations for fights in the future," he told the Daily Telegraph.

"Whether it’s for Joshua or Wilder or anybody else. We’ve informed Eddie Hearn about that. He knows where to go for the negotiations. Tyson and I have had long negotiations about it. That’s the way it’s going to be."
