Tyson Fury 'absolutely wounded' after Anthony Joshua's defeat to Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury has admitted he has been left 'absolutely wounded' following Anthony Joshua's defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, which shatters plans for a unification bout.

AJ suffered an unanimous points defeat to the Ukrainian last weekend and is now set for a rematch in an attempt to win back the four belts he lost in the bout.

As such, a proposed fight with Fury has been pushed back even further - a huge blow to heavyweight boxing, with their meeting originally set for August.

Now, with Joshua on the back of a second defeat of his career, his focus is now on winning back those belts - and a unification fight with Fury may never be on the cards.

Should AJ lose again to Usyk, he could still fight Fury, and has confirmed his intention to, but there would be significantly less clamour for the fight with it clear that the 2012 Olympian was past his best.

Naturally, that has left Fury gutted about the result and he has issued his advice to his compatriot for the yet-to-be scheduled rematch.

"I was hoping Joshua could win the fight, but he couldn't - and that's none of my business. Did I watch the fight? Yes I did. Was I absolutely wounded that he won? Yes I was," he said.

"My advice to Joshua in the rematch is get stuck in the best way he knows how, put his best foot forward and swing away, Jack, swing away.

"I like to pick on someone who is doing well, successful, on top of the game - I don't like picking on people who are down and probably at their lowest point and probably mentally unstable and unwell with a big loss after such a long reign.

"Usyk did his job, he had to do what he had to do, and that's that, and Joshua has got to do what he has got to do."
