Tyrone woman, Unagh Galloghy, 55, dies after car plunges into lake in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland

A woman has died after her car was submerged in a lake over the weekend.

Police patrolling nearby responded to reports of the car going into the water at Muckross Pier in Kesh, Co Fermanagh on Saturday night.

It is understood the woman, a 55-year-old nurse from Drumquin in Co Tyrone, died on Monday morning after being taken to the South West Acute Hospital.

She has been named locally as Unagh Galloghy, Independent.ie reports.

Armagh man Alistair McCammon who was on the lake in his boat dived into the water and managed to free Ms Galloghy from the car and bring her to shore.

Sadly, she later passed away in hospital.

Councillor John Coyle, for Erne North, told Belfast Live: "The whole community is shocked at the loss of this woman's life in such tragic circumstances. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the woman.

"I know the community from Drumquin and Fermanagh and Omagh will gather round the family and support them in their time of grief."
