Tyrone receive Ronan McNamee boost ahead of Ulster semi-final

Tyrone have received a boost ahead of Sunday’s Ulster semi-final against Donegal after Ronan McNamee’s suspension was thrown out.

The 2019 All Star full- back was sent off in last Saturday’s quarter-final win over Cavan after an incident with opposition player Conor Brady and, given it was a straight red card, he was automatically banned for one game.

However, Tyrone took up the option of challenging the decision of referee David Gough and presented McNamee’s case to the Central Hearings Committee last night, where the offence was downgraded from a red card to a yellow.

With Tyrone getting a lift from McNamee’s availability, it remains to be seen if Donegal captain Michael Murphy, who could well be his direct opponent, will feature from the start on Sunday after his recent hamstring trouble reduced his participation in their wins over Down and Derry.
