Tyrone GAA player's father completes full marathon in garden shed

Tyrone footballer Conor Meyler's father has completed the remarkable feat of running a full marathon in his garden shed - all for a brilliant cause.

Former inter-county player Seanie Meyler decided to put in the 26.2 miles on a borrowed treadmill to raise funds for the hospital where his wife Paula works.

And he did it all on Monday, the day of his 54th birthday.

Seanie has been fundraising for the intensive care unit (ICU) at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.

His total as of Tuesday afternoon stood at a staggering £20,319, with hopefully more to come.

On his GoFund Me page, Seanie says: My wife Paula Meyler is a Nurse in the Intensive-Care Covid19 unit in the SWAH in Enniskillen. She works with a team of dedicated and hard working Nursing staff to give top class attention and Nursing care to individuals who are in this high risk Unit.

"I plan to Run a Marathon on my 54th birthday on 13th April 2020 in my Garden Shed on a borrowed Treadmill and the funds raised will all go to a Comfort Fund for this Nursing Staff

Tyrone forward Conor tracked the full run with live updates on his Twitter account, with his father completing the marathon in 3 hours 56 minutes.

Seanie had initially set a fundraising target of £4,000 but has now collected over five times that amount.
