Tyrone GAA club suspends activity after child tests positive for Covid-19

A Tyrone GAA club has suspended all club activities after a young player tested positive for Covid-19.

Greencastle GAA Club confirmed that a child who attended their Go Games training on Thursday has tested positive for the virus.

All children and coaches involved in Thursday's session have now been asked to self-isolate along with their family members.

A Greencastle statement said: "The club have been informed that a child who attended Go Games on Thursday night has just tested positive for Covid-19.

"As a precautionary measure, the club has cancelled all club activities until further notice.

"We have spoken to the PHA and the advice is for any children who where in attendance at Go Games on Thursday night or activities where they could have contacted a player or coach since, along with family members, should self isolate until seeking further advice from the PHA helpline which opens on Monday morning (0300 555 0114) for further guidance on the next steps to take.

"If showing symptoms please contact the Health Service for a test.

"As a club we have notified Tír Eoghain GAA and can reassure members that all GAA and Public Health Agency guidelines are being followed.

"We will continue to liaise with the Tyrone County Board and the Public Health Agency on an ongoing basis in order to comply with the current guidelines."
