Tyron Woodley breaks silence on Jake Paul rematch after Tommy Fury fight off

Tyron Woodley is 'excited' to get his rematch shot against Jake Paul, following Tommy Fury's withdrawal from the December 18th bout.

Just 12 days before the planned clash against Paul in Tampa, Florida, Fury has withdrawn from the clash.

It comes as a big blow to boxing fans, who were under two weeks away from seeing the pair go head-to-head - following months of build-up.

However, Fury 's loss is set to be Woodley's gain as it's likely he'll get the rematch he's been calling for ever since his defeat to Paul in Cleveland.

Malki Kawa, Woodley's manager, believes it's exactly what the UFC star deserves as Paul had previously verbally agreed to a return to the ring against Woodley, before then ruling out such an encounter.

"I'm excited to get this deal done. And to have Tyron have the fight he was supposed to originally have anyway," he told Mirror Fighting.

While Woodley was on the end of a defeat earlier this year, he was the first opponent to take Paul the full distance and showed some promising signs.

A fourth-round flurry that left Paul on the ropes served as evidence of the damage Woodley can do, although the judges scorecards put Paul as clear winner at the end of the contest.

It remains to be seen whether the rematch will have the same weight requirements as the initial bout, where Woodley weighed in at 190lbs, and whether it will be an eight-round contest.

Eight rounds was the length of the contest last time out and was due to be the same for Paul's clash against Fury.
