Tyrese Campbell watched by Celtic as Nick Hammond sweeps for diamonds in the rough

Celtic are monitoring Stoke City striker Tyrese Campbell.

Record Sport understands the Scottish champions are amongst a host of clubs watching the situation of the England Under-20 star as he moves into the last six months of his deal in the Potteries.

Campbell has yet to commit to staying at the Bet365 Stadium and interest is growing in him across the UK.

Celtic Head of football operations Nick Hammond is assessing a variety of options in the attacking department for the upcoming transfer windows and is aware of the 19-year-old’s potential availability.

It is understood that Campbell would cost around only the £350,000 mark in a cross-border compensation deal having moved to Stoke from the Manchester City Academy three years ago in a transfer worth £1.75 million.

The teenager was moved into the first-team set-up by ex-Stoke boss Paul Lambert , but has failed to make a permanent breakthrough at Stoke and was loaned to Shrewsbury for the second-half of last term.

Campbell scored five goals to help keep the club safe in League One before going back to City.

The youngster scored twice on debut for England’s Under-20s in a game against Portugal last month and, although new boss Michael O’Neill appears keen to keep him, the kid is being hunted by suitors.
