Tyres slashed on police vehicle as officers condemn 'senseless' vandalism

Police have condemned acts of "senseless" vandalism after two tyres were slashed on a marked vehicle in Bristol.

The police car had been parked in Standon Way, Brentry, on the morning of April 27 while officers attended an unrelated call.

However, while dealing with that incident an unknown individual slashed the front and rear nearside tyres. It’s believed this happened at about 11.45am.

An investigation into the vandalism is continuing and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They are particularly asking for information on anyone seen acting suspiciously in the area at that time, including a young male seen wearing black clothing.

A statement from police said the damage was "senseless" and "incredibly frustrating", as well as pointing out that the damage could have prevented officers from responding to an urgent call.

PC Melissa Kingscott said: “It is incredibly frustrating that someone would go out of their way to damage a police car. On another day, this senseless vandalism could have stopped officers from attending a 999 call and potentially saving someone’s life or detaining a suspect.

“We’d ask anyone who saw what happened to contact us online or call 101 and give reference number 5221090286.“
