Tyrella beach incident results in man charged with GBH

A man has been charged with GBH after an alleged ‘one-punch’ attack at Tyrella beach.

Police say detectives investigating the “one punch type incident at Tyrella Beach on Thursday 27th June have charged a 21-year-old man with grievous bodily harm”.

They say the accused man is due to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 25. A 22-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital following the incident, the PSNI added.

Detectives “continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1913 27/06/19”.

As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS, the police say.
