Tyrell Terry has reportedly put on weight, height; should Boston care?

The Boston Celtics will likely be on the hunt for a backup point guard with potential starter upside in the 2020 NBA Draft if they don’t package their picks to move up in the draft in pursuit of star talent, and some rumbles about player development currently circulating might end up changing their plans.

Bleacher Report’s in-house NBA draft maestro Jonathan Wasserman reports point guard prospect Tyrell Terry has been keeping busy since the last NCAA season, having put on 20 pounds of muscle and grown to 6-foot-3.75 in sneakers.

Currently mocked by most draft analysts between Boston’s first two picks (the Celtics will select 14th, 26th and 30th in the 2020 first round barring any consolidatory deals), Terry’s size and thin frame have been two of the biggest flags pulling his stock down.

Listed on Tankathon as 6-foot-1 and just 160 pounds, these issues are noted in the Rookie Wire’s latest big board as well, but his outstanding accuracy and ability shooting from deep (40.8 % on 4.9 attempts per game) and absurdly high basketball IQ, Terry could be the steal of the draft at No. 14, if available.

This would allow the Celtics to use the rest of their picks to either trade up for another impact player, out of this draft for when they’ll have more roster slots open, or on draft-and-stash players who’ll spend a season or two maturing in other leagues.
