Tyrell Malacia arrives for Manchester United medical

Tyrell Malacia has arrived at Manchester United's training complex to complete the second part of his medical ahead of a €15million (£12.9m) transfer from Feyenoord.

Malacia, 22, arrived at Carrington on Sunday for the first round of medical checks and senior United sources say he is due to sign for the club after today's tests.

Left-back Malacia is set to become new United manager Erik ten Hag's first signing and is poised to sign in time to be included for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

United fly to Bangkok on Friday and are aiming to have more signings among Ten Hag's first tour squad. United have agreed a fee with Barcelona to sign Frenkie de Jong but that deal has become so protracted it has been 54 days since United first contacted Barcelona about the midfielder.

De Jong, like Netherlands teammate Malacia, is due back from his three-week break after playing for the national side in their Nations League fixtures last month.

United have also made a £37m bid for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez and Ten Hag remains interested in Christian Eriksen. United are also expected to recruit a back-up goalkeeper to offset Dean Henderson's departure for Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan.

An issue over Malacia's representation involving his agent, Ali Dursun, and the player's father was resolved last week and senior United sources stressed there is "no problem" with the deal.

United's own process in their move for Malacia was not been affected by the sudden issue on the player's side.
