Tyrann Mathieu on Deshaun Watson’s ‘Madden 20’ rating: No wonder kids play ‘Fortnite’

He may not be with the Houston Texans any longer, but Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu is standing up for his former quarterback after the ratings for “Madden NFL 20” were released by EA Sports.

In a tweet on Monday after the ratings came out, Mathieu took a jab at EA Sports for Watson’s surprisingly low rating: “Ain’t no way Deshaun Watson a 82.”

“No wonder kids are playing [‘Fortnite’] now,” Mathieu jabbed.

Watson was given an overall rating of 82, lower than second-year QB Baker Mayfield with 83, and Jared Goff, also an 83, who led the Rams to the Super Bowl last season but simply isn’t on the same level as Watson when it comes to his inventiveness and ground game.

The two aspects of his game that EA Sports clearly felt dragged down his game were awareness (77) and strength (a measly 61). And it is safe to say that Watson was not the only player undercut in this year’s edition of Madden, with USA Today reporting of several NFL players who are unhappy with their most recent ratings.
