Tyquan Lewis was inactive Week 1 due to knee injury

There was a surprise inactive listed for the Indianapolis Colts ahead of the Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in the form of defensive tackle Tyquan Lewis, and we now know why.

Head coach Frank Reich said Wednesday to reporters that Lewis was inactive due to a lingering knee injury the second-year player suffered in mid-August. They felt he didn’t have enough practice time to be ready for the regular-season opener.

Why Lewis wasn’t listed on the injury report leading up to the game isn’t clear. As the injury report goes, Lewis was a full participant despite the knee injury for the entire week.

Whether Lewis will be ready for the divisional matchup in Week 2 against the Tennesse Titans will be a storyline to monitor as the Colts practice over the next three days.

If Lewis continues to miss, expect Jihad Ward and Grover Stewart to fill in behind Denico Autry and Margus Hunt on the interior defensive line.
