The destruction caused by Typhoon No. 20 included the knocking down of a wind turbine on Awajishima island in Hyogo Prefecture that was discovered Friday.

The 37-meter-tall supporting column of a wind turbine at the Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park had broken from its foundation.

The typhoon passed through the Kinki region overnight, injuring 26 people, some due to the wind making them fall, in nine prefectures along the way.

It then traveled north over the Sea of Japan off the Hokuriku and Tohoku regions.

On Friday afternoon, the typhoon weakened to an extratropical depression, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
